It was third time lucky for 21-year-old Anupama Ramachandran. After going down in the 6-Red snooker final and the 15-Red snooker final to Madhya Pradesh's Amee Kamani, the Tamil Nadu cueist pulled off a stunning victory in the women’s billiards final at the National Billiards And Snooker Championships in Chennai on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Anupama bounced back from 0-2 down to beat defending champion Amee 3-2 and clinch her maiden senior Nationals crown. With the win, Anupama was able to deny Amee the treble - something the latter had achieved in 2017.

“It feels special to win my first senior National title. And, to do it in front of my family, friends and the Tamil Nadu Billiards and Snooker Association community,” said Anupama, who bagged the final three frames 101-60, 101-82, 101-54. Earlier this year, Anupama had joined forces with Amee to conquer the Women's Snooker World Cup.?

Amee seemed to be in command after winning the opening couple of frames 102-41 and 100-55. But things soon went downhill for her. “I don’t know what went wrong. I think it’s just destiny, and I accept it. Anupama played really well after I took the lead,” said Amee after her loss.
