12:30 PM: Preview

India have good memories at Wankhede against the very same opposition, whom they beat 12 years earlier to lift their second Cricket World Cup. On that day, a mighty fightback from Gautam Gambhir and Mahendra Singh Dhoni - peppered with crucial innings from Yuvraj Singh and Virat Kohli - dragged India over the finish line after the hosts had lost key men Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar early.?

Looking to lift the cup at home a dozen years later, India battle a Sri Lanka side that has shown its competence against the best teams in the world, albeit inconsistently. Sri Lanka are seventh in the table after six games and need to win all of their remaining matches with good margins to sneak into the semis.

Despite losing Rohit Sharma (4) to the second ball of the over, Shubman Gill (92) and Virat Kohli (88) put up a massive stand to take India out of trouble. Kohli came agonisingly close to equalling 49 ODI tons but was dimissed. After their dismissals, Shreyas Iyer (82) tooked the initiative as he bludgeoned few sixes including the highest of the tournament so far. India added 93 runs in the last 10 overs. For Sri Lanka, their fielding was spot and so?was Dilshan Madhushanka, who scalped a fifer (5/80) and he continued his fine form in?this World Cup.
