A day after a viral video showing NCC cadets being thrashed with a stick while being forced to sit face down in muddy water emerged,?Principal of Joshi Bedekar College has suspended the student involved.?"The person seen in the video beating students is not a teacher. We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour. The students who faced this should not be scared," she said.

"The action being extremely condemnable is neither a part of any NCC training or organised activity. The NCC is extremely disturbed at the fact that the perpetrator is a cadet or an ex-cadet as per the statement of the Principal of the said college. The student has been suspended by the College," Maharashtra NCC said in a tweet.

Student unions on Friday protested outside the educational institute demanding action against the erring student.?Members of the student wing of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) submitted a memorandum to the college management demanding strict action on the senior student.

Nitin Landge of the Shinde group’s student wing said the NCC cadets who were at the receiving end and their parents are under “extreme” pressure from the college management to not complain against the senior. The college must take the incident seriously and lodge a police complaint, he said.

NCC incident mentioned in Maharashtra Assembly

In the Maharashtra Assembly, LOP Vijay Wadettiwar raised the issue of NCC cadets being beaten by a man during a training session in Thane. Speaker Rahul Narvekar directed the government?to take action on this issue. Ex-CM Prithviraj Chavan demanded action against the responsible person under the anti-ragging law.

Deputy Chief Minister?Ajit Pawar assured the house that strict action will be taken against the culprits.?
