Centre Officially Notifies August 23 As National Space Day To Mark Chandrayaan-3's Success

Following Chandrayaan-3's remarkably successful endeavour on the south of lunar surface, the?Centre on Saturday officially notified August 23 as the National Space Day.

Earlier in August, the?Union cabinet announced August 23 as ‘National Space Day’ after Indian Space Research Organization's (ISRO) third lunar mission?Chandrayaan 3 successfully landed on the moon's south pole.

The announcement was made by PM Modi during his visit to the ISRO command centre in Bengaluru on August 26.

“In today’s era, the country which paces ahead in the field of science and technology will be charting history...To encourage our younger generation to get involved in the field of science and technology and space, we have decided that August 23, the day when our Chandrayaan-3 lander touched the moon, will be celebrated as National Space Day,” the prime minister had said.
