The death toll caused by wildfires on Hawaii's Maui has risen to 80. The catastrophe has displaced thousands of people and left them stranded in emergency shelters. With 80 people losing their lives to the wildfire, marked a considerable jump. The death toll has increased significantly from the previous total of 67 fatalities. The burned-down town of Lahaina has been blocked off by law enforcement, as Maui County officials have warned that the area contains toxic particles from the scorched land.

More than 2,200 structures in Lahaina have been destroyed, according to county officials. In addition to the structural damage, residents have been warned not to use tap water for drinking or cooking until further notice, as officials believe it may contain harmful contaminants. The officials informed that the water must contain some harmful contaminants, which can cause problems.

Hawaii's Department of Transportation took to Twitter to inform residents that the Kaanapali fire, which had been burning on the island, was 100% contained by Friday evening. However, the fires in Lahaina, Pulehu, and Upcountry Maui are still ongoing and being addressed.

The fire is believed to have started at a county fueling station that was about to provide 3,000 gallons of gasoline and 500 gallons of diesel fuel to about 400 waiting vehicles. The county has issued a statement saying that the power will not be distributed on Saturday due to the fire.

Strong winds associated with Hurricane Dora also contributed to the growth of the flames and caused significant disruptions to local communication. Several homes and historic buildings, including the Maui tourist destination of Lahaina town, have been destroyed, leaving thousands of people devastated.

Various hospitals in Maui have seen an influx of patients suffering from severe burns and smoke inhalation. Also, search operations for several people are underway. However, locals believe that the death toll could rise further given the circumstances.
