Odisha Vidhan Sabha Election Result 2024: BJD Rule Sees Ends As BJP Secures Majority | Highlights

As per the latest trends from EC, Union Minister and BJP Leader Dharmendra Pradhan continues to enoy a strong lead in the seat Lok Sabha seat of Sambalpur. The Odia leader is currently ahead with a margin of 1,13,132 votes.

The incumbent Biju Janta Dal has recorded its first win amid a sea of BJP majority. The Rourkela Vidhan Sabha constituency has gone to BJD's Sarada Prasad Nayak with a total of 64,660 votes. Nayak has won with a margin of 3,552 votes.

As per data from the Election Commission, BJP has won a total of four seats and leading in 76 in the Odisha Vidhan Sabha Elections. The winning candidates are -

• Jharsuguda - TANKADHAR TRIPATHY

• Raghunathpali - DURGA CHARAN TANTI

• Chilika - PRITHIVIRAJ HARICHANDAN

Ashwini Kumar Sarangi from the BJP has won the Bargarh seat in Odisha. Sarangi won by a margin of 4,772 votes

BJP's Prithviraj Harichandan has won the Chilika Vidhan Sabha seat in Odisha. As per ECI, Harichandan won by a margin of 4,566 votes and recieved a total of 83,264 votes.

As per the Election Commission, the vote share for the BJP in the Odisha Vidhan Sabha is the highest at 40.16%. For BJP, the vote share stands at 39.89%, whereas the Congress has a vote share percentage of 13.46%

Congress' Mangu Khilla has won the Chitrakonda seat in the Odisha Vidhan Sabha Election Result. Khallu won with by a margin of 9,159 and received a total of 55,550 votes.

In the Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat, BJP leader and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is in the lead by a margin of 1,06,980 votes.

Meanwhile, for the Sambalpur Vidhan Sabha Seat, BJP's Jayanarayan Mishra is leading by a margin of 3,574 votes.

In Nayagarh Vidhan Sabha Seat, BJD's Aruna Kumar Sahoo is leading and BJP's Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh. Sahoo is currently has a total of 78,444 votes.

BJP Candidates Krushna Chandra Patra is leading from the Dhenkanal constituency. Trailing behind the BJP candidate is BJD's is Sudhir Kumar Samal

BJP has won the seat of Jharsuguda in the Odisha Vidhan Sabha 2024 Elections. The candidate Tankadhar Tripathy secured a win with 90,374, defeated BJD candidate Dipali Das. While all rounds of counting have been completed, a confirmation from EC is awaited.

The Bharatiya Janta Party is maintaining its strong lead in the Odisha Vidhan Sabha Result and the Odisha Lok Sabha Result. For the Vidhan Sabha Election Result in the state, the BJP has crossed the majority mark, setting the end for BJD's 24-year rule.

For the Lok Sabha seats, BJP is leading in 19 seats while BJD trails in one seat.

Incumbent Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is leading from both his constituencies/ From Kantabanji, Patnaik is leading by 2,185 votes and in Hinjili, the BJD chief is leading with 3,643 votes.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra are enjoying a comfortable lead for the Odisha Lok Sabha elections 2024. Pradhan is leading from Sambalpur while Patra leads from Puri.

Bharatiya Janta Party has once again crossed the majority mark of 74 seats. As per EC trends at 2 PM, BJP is leading in 76 seats.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has secured a strong lead from the Lok Sabha seat of Sambalpur. As per the latest trends from EC, the BJP leader currently has a total of 2,94,409 votes.

Of the 21 Odisha Lok Sabha seats, the BJP is leading in 19 seats. Incumbent BJD and Congress are leading in one seat each.

If the BJP does win the Vidhan Sabha Election result and ousted the BJD,the candidate for the new Chief Minister remains a mystery. With no candidate or CM face announced, it is likely that the BJP announces the CM candidate for Odisha in a manner similar to the December 2023 Assembly Election polls.

However, if BJD manages to win, then a sixth term for Naveen Patnaik is more or less confirmed.

With the count underway for the Odisha Vidhan Sabha Result 2024, a tight fight between the BJP and BJD can be seen. This close contest between the two parties had also been predicted in the exit polls for the assembly elections.

One such survey was the India Today Axis My India polls which showed a contest of 62-80 seats for both party.

In a surprise turn of events, the BJP has dropped below the majority mark in the Odisha Vidhan Sabha Election Result as the incumbent BJD comes closer to 74 seats. As per the latest EC trends, BJP is leading in 70 seats and the BJD in 61 seats.

Incumbent Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is currently in the lead from the assembly constituency of Hinjili. Patnaik currently has a total of 12,110 votes. BJP's Sisir Kumar Mishra is trailing with 9,597 votes.

With the BJP at the majority mark (74 seats as of 12:30 PM), the party is all set to form the government in the state. However, BJP has not announced any candidate for the post of Chief Minister as of yet.

With the Odisha assembly election result, the party is expected to announce the CM candidate in a manner similar to the candidates of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh in December 2023.

Biju Janta Dal has been the ruling party in Odisha for 24 years now. the party came into power in 2000 with Naveen Patnaik as the Chief Minister. Since then, the incumbent party has won almost all assembly elections, making Patnaik one of the longest-serving Chief Ministers in India.

With the 2024 Vidhan Sabha elections, the BJD chief was seeking a sixth term as Chief Minister.

As per EC Trends, the BJP has officially crossed the majority mark in the Odisha Vidhan Sabha Election Results. As of 11:45 AM, the BJP is leading in 76 seats while BJD trails with 54 seats.

As per the latest data from the Election Commission, the BJP has taken a lead in the Odisha Lok Sabha seats. As of 11 AM, the BJP is leading in 18 seats. The incumbent BJD trails with just two seats and Congress follows behind with one seat.

As of 11 AM, the Election Commission trends show that the incumbent Biju Janta Dal is narrowing the gap with BJP. However, the Bharatiya Janta Party is still maintaining a strong lead.

In the surprising turn of events, the BJP has taken the lead in the Odisha Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha election results. If the BJP succeds to form the government, it would bring an end to the Biju Janta Dal's 24-year rule in the state.

Biju Janta Dal's Ranjita Sahu is leading from the Lok Sabha seat of Aska by a margin of over 1,000 votes.

For the Odisha Assembly Election 2024 Result, incumbent Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is contesting from the seats of Hinjili and Kantabanji.

The Odisha CM is currently leading from the Kantabanji constituency. The couting for Hinjili is yet to begin. 

The Bharatiya Janta Party has taken a strong lead in the state of Odisha. As per ECI, the BJP is leading in 47 constituencies of the 147 seats.

As per the trends for the General Elections 2024, the BJP-led NDA alliance has crossed the majority mark and hit 300. The opposition INDIA bloc, however, is closing in on the gap with over 200 seats.

As far as the parliamentary seats of Odisha are concerned, the BJP is in the lead with 17, followed by the BJD and INC with one each.

For the Vidhan Sabha election results, it's a close call between the two parties, with the BJP in the lead with 29, followed by BJD at 14.

For the assembly election results, the INC has also secured five leads and CPI(M) has one.

With BJP leading in the early trends, it seems that the exit poll projections may just come true. If the BJP does succeed to win over Odisha, it would mark the end of the Biju Janta Dal's 24-year rule and Patnaik's term as Chief Minister

The counting of votes will begin shortly. As per the ECI schedule, the counting will begin from 8 AM onwards. The polling officers will begin with the counting the postal ballots and then the votes recorded through the electronic voting machines.

The Election Commission of India will be announcing the result for the Odisha Assembly Elections 2024 today. The counting of votes is set to begin at 8 AM. The Odisha vidhan sabha has a total of 147 seats, of which 74 are needed to declare a majority.

Amid the polls for Odisha Lok Sabha and VIdhan Sabha, PM Modi and Home MInister Amit Shah alleged a "conspiracy" around CM Naveen Patnaik's health.

Speaking during the last week of election rallies, PM Modi alleged that there was a "conspiracy behind the sudden deterioration of Naveen Patnaik's health"

"Is there a conspiracy behind the sudden deterioration of Naveen Patnaik's health? Is the lobby currently running the Patnaik government on his behalf responsible for sudden deterioration of his health?".

The PM further added that if the BJP were to form the government in Odisha, it would form a committee to look into the 77-year-old CM's health and medical records. In response to Modi, Patnaik countered that PM Modi could have simply called him and asked about his health.

"He (the Prime Minister) earlier said in public, 'I am his good friend'. All he had to do then was pick up a phone and ask about my health. But BJP people from Odisha and Delhi are spreading rumours," stated Patnaik

As per the exit polls conducted on Saturday, polsters have projected a tight contest between the incumbent Biju Janta Dal party and the Bharatiya Janta Party. BJD has been in power in the state since 2000 and for the 2024 elections, the BJP is seeking to form the new state government.

In 2019, the Biju Janta Dal led by Naveen Patnaik formed the government with a total of 112 seats. With the BJD's victory, Patnaik sercured his fifth term as the Chief Minister, making him the second longest-serving chief ministers in the country.

As per Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, the count of postal ballots will start first across all centres. The Chief polling officer added that after half-an-hour of the start of the postal ballot count, the counting of votes from the electronic voting machines will commence.

ECI is set to begin the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha Results, Odisha Assembly Election Results and Andhra Pradesh Assembly Election Results will begin at 8 AM.

Odisha’s Vidhan Sabha consists of a total of 147 seats. In order for any party to declare a majority, a majority of 74 seats is needed. The incumbed Biju Janta Dal has contested from all 147 seats. The opposition BJP has also contested from all seats in the Vidhan Sabha.
