The police procedural show, ‘CID’, was one of the longest-running shows on Indian television. The show started airing in 1998 and it ran successfully for almost two decades. However, in a latest interaction, the ‘CID’ team alleged that the show was ‘forced to die.’

The ‘CID’ team recently appeared in a podcast. Speaking to Laksh Maheshwari on the ‘Kahaniyo ki Kahaniya’ podcast, the team made some startling revelations. They were asked why the show ended after 21 years. Replying to the Dayanand Shetty alleged that the show was sabotaged. The actor said that considering the pace and the fanbase of the show it wasn’t necessary to end it. He said, “Humko phir bhi ye lagta hai ki somewhere show ko sabotage kiya gaya hai, from 2016 onwards.”

The actor made the analogy of how people kill trees by applying asafetida and said that the same was done with the show. He also mentioned that the channel had started cancelling their episodes from 2016 onwards. He also alleged that the channel was not on good terms with the producers of ‘CID’ and they wanted them out.

Dayanand Shetty added that the cast was asked by the channel if they would continue working with them if they changed the producers. The cast said no. Narendra Gupta also revealed that the team has not received any lifetime royalty or any similar compensation despite their show being immensely popular.

Created by B.P Singh, ‘CID’ starred Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty, and Aditya Srivastava in lead roles. During its runtime, the show also set many records.
