Plan To Contest Next Lok Sabha Election From Papua New Guinea: Yashwant Singh's Tweet Receives Flak

Former Minister of Finance and External Affairs, Yashwant Singh recently tweeted about Prime Minster Narendra Modi's elite treatment at Papua New Guinea as he joked about contesting the next Lok Sabha election from there.

Yashwant Singh recently tweeted about contesting elections from the country?Papua New Guinea after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was grandly welcomed into the country on his maiden visit.

Former Minister of Finance and External Affairs Yashwant Singh's tweet had a hint of sarcasm as he stated his plan to contest the next Lok Sabha Election from the Oceanian country.

He tweeted, "I plan to contest my next Lok Sabha election from Papua New Guinea on a Modi ticket which I hope he will give."

Yashwant Singh was also the presidential candidate from the opposition parties against Droupadi Murmu.

Replying to his tweet, the Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Shehzada Poonawala wrote, "Congress wanted him to become President of India! Imagine".

In-charge of legal of BJP youth wing, Varun Jamwaal replied saying, "From a presidential candidate to a 2 Rupees Troll..what a journey ! ????? ???? ?????? ?????? - ????? ?? ?? ?????"

Narendra Modi was greeted by Papua New Guinea Prime Minister?James Marape?who touched his feet as a mark of respect. Then with the native traditions, Modi was welcomed into the country.

Not only that, but the Indian Prime Minister has also been conferred the Companion of the Order of Logohu which reportedly only a few non-residents are awarded with. Championing the islands of the Pacific and promoting the cause of the Global South, were a few of the reasons behind the felicitation.

The?Papua New Guinea Prime Minister?James Marape reportedly said, "We are victims of global powerplay... You (PM Modi) are the leader of Global South. We will rally behind your (India) leadership at global forums."
