Representing various farmer organisations in Punjab, a group of 101 farmers has also begun marching towards Delhi as part of their protest that started on Sunday.

Demanding a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and addressing other key issues, the farmers set off from the Shambhu protest site on the Punjab-Haryana border.

However, the march of those who had been camping at the border was stopped by the Haryana Police just a few meters into their journey. It led to clashes. In response, the police fired tear gas shells to disperse the protesters, as per reports.

The farmers are also demanding reinstatement of the 2013 Land Acquisition Act and compensation for the families of farmers who died during the 2020-21 agitation.

At the Shambhu border, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said, as quoted by ANI, "The protest of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) has entered the 300th day. But the central government is still adamant. Another big announcement we made was that we will oppose the entry of BJP leaders in Punjab. We are not sure, but we have heard that Saini (Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini) and Gadkari (Union Minister Nitin Gadkari) are going to Amritsar. We call out the farmers of Punjab to oppose their entry into the state."

The farmers’ march towards Delhi was temporarily halted on Friday after several of them were injured when tear gas was used to block their path at the Punjab-Haryana border. The Haryana Police added more barricades to prevent the farmers from breaking through as they attempted to head towards Parliament in Delhi.

Internet services in Ambala have been suspended until December 9. Authorities have strengthened security. The police said they had sufficient forces to manage the situation. The Ambala administration has imposed a ban on gatherings of more than five people, as reported by India Today.
